Recently our colleague, Doug Grabowski, contributed a post about the nasty CryptoLocker virus. Now he has some new information that can help you prevent the harm that CryptoLocker can cause.

Doug writes “There is a free, trustworthy tool available to prevent CryptoLocker from infecting your computer. I’m not affiliated with them in any way, but am using the tool for my own use. Please share with all of your users and run on all Windows machines (Mac not currently affected).

Run it, and you will be prompted with a splash screen.

Select all four checkboxes

Click Apply. When prompted ‘Are you sure you want to block temp extracted files’, accept it. These options are the most pessimistic settings, and ones I recommend.”

When done you will be prompted to restart, which you should do as soon as you can.

Remember to  please be careful about what you dowload and work with your technology team.
